  1. Hi Dave, I’ve just watched your YouTube video about 10 (11) essential tools for modelling. One thing I’d ask is, ahem, I’m now 51 and starting modelling again after a 25 yr break. The biggest difference is that my eyesight is now bollocks. Reading glasses just don’t cut it with the detail I now need . Any ideas regarding magnifying lenses on stands , or anything else.
I’m a dentist and use loupes at work, but they’re so expensive I can’t justify having a set at home. ( I’ll get cheap tweezers though!)

  2. Hi Christopher, I can't really give you much advice on that, sorry. Luckily for me, I'm a bit short-sighted so I've been okay (so far) with close up detail work - I've not tried any magnifiers. Sorry mate, but welcome back to the hobby! Cheers, Dave

  3. Hey Christopher, I feel your pain. Two things I have that really help, are a visor type magnifier, and one of those bright LED ring lamps with the big lens on that you look through. I don't think I could cope without either of those, and the magnifier lamp is great in Summer because it doesn't make you sweat :-)
Link below is just so you can see what I'm talking about.

  4. Hi Dave, Hutch here from the UK. Building a Tiger one in the same colours as you have in your video. Please can you advise me how you wash the salt off the tank if not using an Air Brush. This is my first model in 30yrs...

    1. Hi Hutch, you just use water to remove the salt. So paint your base layer. Let it dry. Wet it with a spray of water, then sprinkle salt on. Let it dry. Paint the top coat, let it dry. Then wash off the salt with water - where the salt was will be speckles of the undercoat showing through. Cheers, Dave
